the highlight of Samantha's week

The principal at Samantha's school, Mr. Bakle, announced that he would eat one worm for each grade level that had every student complete a young author's book...four grade levels, four worms... Well, guess what? Every child in the entire school did a book and so yes, Mr. Bakle ate four worms! The first was a gummi worm but the other three were real alive earthworms! Samantha telling me about it: "Well, first of all, he had a puke bucket beside him in case he threw up and also some pink medicine [pepto]. After he ate the gummi worm, he fried the worm in some fish stuff [batter?]and ate it, then did the other two. It was so gross, Mom, I threw up a little in my mouth and then had to swallow it because I didn't have a puke bucket!" I think the highlight of MY week was her telling me about it!

the Wax Museum

Yes, I talked Chad into going to a wax museum while in Niagara Falls...I have to say I'm a sucker for over priced, corny tourist traps. Well, it turned out to be so hilariously fun that I couldn't put these pics with the Niagara Falls pics...this needed a blog post all it's own!

Niagara Falls!

What a TERRIFIC trip!! We had so much fun and the falls are so amazing! I really want to go back soon!

the Sci-Tech Showcase

Ian was involved in an after school science club where they built machines out of K'nex blocks. Three of their big machines and seven of their little ones went to a special showcase at IPFW with lots of other schools in the area. This was the first one of these Showcases and it was such a success, they'll be doing it every year!

We missed you, Gail!!

The March/April birthday party was delightful as always, but of course we missed our dear Gail singing the present song! Other than that, it was a success and reminded me once again that March 31, April 1, April 5, and April 12 are indeed special days!

Happy 9th birthday, Samantha!

Samantha's quilt

It's finally finished! My third quilt is now complete: Ian's, my new niece/nephew's, and now Samantha's. I love cutting the fabric, sewing it, and then finally seeing the finished product from what started as a stack of squares! It's very satisfying!!!
